Atmospheric rivers, bomb cycles blah, blah, blah…its all evil hollywood esq bs designed to terrify / control you and makes me giggle (if the sheep like zealot hypnotised great unwashed mass morons were’t so stupid). its been happening for millennia as our world evolves over billions of years and will continue to happen for millenia (smartly managed). u want scary…well right now (even on a calm day) we’re on a hunk of rock (with an atmoshere) spinning at 600mph, goin’ around a fire ball at 50,000mph and blasting through ever expanding space time at warp speed out on the v.lonely edge of a milky way galaxy (just one of trillions) in an infinite universe (likely multiverses) connected by worm holes! as the snow piles up in january (with even bigger months ahead in feb, march as the pineapple express starts to kick in over the san juans) we encourage you to be well prepared and calculated out in our sublime backcountry…simple tasks like writing down the basic weather metrics for each day, every day, reading / obeying local avalanche reports, chatting to talented locals and (sadly not so common) common sense / looking around you b4 you go will keep you hootin’ and hollerin’ (sometimes yodeling) into cold smoke fable time.
